My Favourite Movie Scenes :: #2 TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE

As the Decepticon army floods over the Autoboy city on Earth, Prime rallies the Dinobots who are instantly crushed by Devastator. Prime realises that there is no one in the galaxy as bad as him, so he lands the shuttle in an area that is for some reason free from any gunfire whatsoever so that he can turn to camera and say the immortal line “They must be stopped. No matter the cost.” Then Stan Bush kicks in screaming ‘YOU GOT THE TOUCH’ and Optimus Prime beats the shit out of anyone within a ten mile radius, finally culminating in an equally life shattering final duel with Megatron.

I’m pretty sure that my girlfriend is still in the popular stage of denial whereby she still chooses to believe that I’m joking about my latent interest in Transformers. Unfortunately (and this is an easier way to tell her I’m a huge geek) the truth is the Transformers Movie shaped my life. It taught me about friendship and responsibility, valor and pride. And most importantly it taught me that if I die, I should for no reason ever give the matrix of leadership to Ultra Magnus. Because thats just a bad day for everyone.

That picture above is not really what I had in mind, I wanted the picture just before Prime turns into a truck with a back end that appears from nowhere, just as Stan Bush fires up on the soundtrack. If there are any Transformers geeks reading this, thats the fucking problem with you guys, you can bitch about the lack of continuity in Wheeljack and Windcharger’s deaths or the origins of Vecta Sigma but you can’t post decent DVD screenshots online.

I own this movie on video, VCD and own both versions of the DVD. You should too.

Unfortunately, this scene also signals the beginning of the end for the movie, its pretty much all down hill from here on out. Kinda like when Whistler gets killed in Blade Trinity. After this beatdown its all Kup talking about petrorabbits and Springer acting like we give a shit whether he lives or dies. It’s very important however that you people understand the magnitude of what this film did for me (and I’m sure) a billion other kids my age.

And Optimus Prime is the baddest homeboy in the galaxy.
