My Favourite Movie Scenes :: #5 THE GOONIES
The Goonies are making their way to One Eyed Willy’s ship, but along the way they find that they are underneath the town’s wishing well and surrounded by quarters.
No it’s not the scene where Chunk has to do the truffle shuffle. That would be way too obvious.
This film came out in 1985, but it is probably the only one on the list that had anywhere near as close an effect on me as the Transformers Movie, probably because I was still a very impressionable kid at the time. But affect me it did. That Corey Feldman was able to teach me life lessons is an embarrassment that will probably never be topped. I don’t care that I cried when Optimus Prime died, that was the end of an era.
From Imdb.com:
[the Goonies are collecting coins from a wishing well]
Stef: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, stop, stop! You can’t do this.
Data: Why?
Mikey: Why?
Stef: Because these are somebody else’s wishes. They’re somebody else’s dreams.
Mouth: Yeah, but you know what? This one, this one right here. This was my dream, my wish. And it didn’t come true. So I’m taking it back. I’m taking them all back.
That dialogue is amazing. And Goonies never quit!
